I had previously reported on Dave Chappelle becoming Muslim, and even posed a question and had it answered on Time Magazines Website. Amir blogged about Dave becoming a co-executive producer for a future Allah Made Me Funny DVD.
Well now Recently Dave was in the UK and did a short stand up bit. Watch Then Read my commentary (Warning!: Its Dave Chappelle! - not appropriate for all audiences!)
As you can see, he was smoking on stage (yuck), curses a little bit and he made jokes in reference to Marajuana. But hey at least he said Salaam and Eid Mubarak!

May Allah guide him. Ameen!
I ain’t going to lie, he’s funny! Hahah!
Salam, It’s good he’s back but i feel skeptical about his dawah, is he using his comedy with some islam references to slowly approach his audience and at the same time maintain the conformity level, he’s definitely funny, let’s just hope he uses his talents and energies in a more positive halal direction, but at the same time maybe he knows this and is making moves gradually…
Make dua Allah guide him and us all…ameen!
It’s not his form of Dawah, I don’t think hes at the stage where hes trying to “Give Dawah”. I think he’s just being real. He didn’t have to make it a point to see if there were any Muslims in the audience and try to connect with them.
It’s much better for him to be in the mainstream rather than target just a Muslim audience (like an Azhar Usman). But he definitely should cut out the dirty jokes. I mean he was talking about his own family in that way! Hopefully he will evolve into a better Ambassador of Islam while not losing his ability to connect with people through his personality and skills.
It’s the first time I commented here and I must say that you give us genuine, and quality information for bloggers! Great job.
p.s. You have a very good template for your blog. Where did you find it?
