Great feature on the Nikebasketball site. Episodes on players and their respective sneaker brands. I am watching Epsiode 10 on Barkley.

Dwight Howard made the Slam Dunk Contest worth watching. Some complained that his “Superman Dunk” wasn’t really a dunk. I agree, I don’t think that should have counted as a dunk and he had time remaining to retry to do it right. He didn’t even touch the rim! Dwight Howard made the Slam Dunk Contest worth watching. Some complained that his “Superman Dunk” wasn’t really a dunk. I agree, I don’t think that should have counted as a dunk and he had time remaining to retry to do it right. He didn’t even touch the rim! When he was interviewed he explained that the Soulja Boy Superman song is his favorite song. Even if it is… why would you proclaim that on national television!?!

If you still don’t believe he is a beast.. just watch him practicing his dunks for the dunk contest (ignore the product placement):

About the All-star game itself… it was competitive down to the final minutes! This was the first time in years that it wasn’t a blow out. Ray Allen helped the East pull out the Win. In my opinion Ray is the best player of the Celtic Trio. He has one of the highest free throw shooting percentages, is a clutch shooter, can drain 3 after 3 and can control the ball, create space, and create his own shot. I also like the other 2, I mean “I Ball fierce like Paul Pierce” -Rebel INS.

Lebron and Dwight Howard also put on a show with great passing and alley oops. I also like Chris Paul of the Hornets. He did well in the skills challenge and is really fun to watch. He is a pure point guard. There are guards like Steve Nash that can really run plays and make great passes, but he is also relied upon to play that 2 guard role where he has to score alot of points to ensure his team wins. So in that sense he doesn’t play that pure point guard role that someone like Chris Paul plays. He has a nice handle, is quick, has a beautiful shot, he can score but he thinks pass first, shoot second.

About NBA players helping to build homes in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity: Hey thats great and all, but… some of these guys didn’t go to college, not sure if I would want them to build my house! I know how bad I was at arts and crafts, cant imagine how clumsy and lousy 7 footers would be.

On Feb. 24, 2006 the Orlando Magic waived Anfernee (Penny) Hardaway after obtaining his contract from the New York Knicks in a trade for Steve Francis. I must say this is the worst form of disrespect a seasoned veteran could receive.

Penny has appeared in 60 playoff games averaging 20.6 points and 6.2 assists. He made four straight All-Star appearances (1995-98) and has averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.8 rebounds. Named to the All-NBA First Team in 1994-95 and 1995-96, and to the All-NBA Third Team in 1996-97. Averaged 31 points against the Miami Heat in the first round of the 1997 NBA Playoffs. A member of the gold medal-winning United States Olympic Basketball Team during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Appeared in the 1995 NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets. Named NBA Player of the Month for November, 1995. Named MVP of the inaugural Schick Rookie Game, scoring a game-high 22 points (8-9 FG, 4-6 FT), during the 1994 NBA All-Star Weekend in Minneapolis.

In case the video above didn’t make it clear watch this one also (Mute first: Music with Cursing):

Man I love these clips of Penny SCHOOLING Jordan, Pippen, Kukoc, Kobe, Shaq, Jason Kidd and Iverson. Not to mention dunking on Robinson, Ewing, and I think one of the Davis brothers on the Pacers.. he got it the worst. {mos_sb_discuss:7}
