I had written on my blog before about the WWE rehashing the ARAB Bad Guy Gimmick. Well now TNA is doing it.
As if having a bad guy Niqabi manager wasn’t enough. The twist here is that “Sheikh Abdul Basheer” (formerly Davari in WWE) says that he’s an American and loves his country, but then double talks with vehement anti-American rhetoric. The problem I have with this picture is it subtly implies that middle-easterners (or the other if you will) will never be truly American, and you should always be suspicous of them, especially when they say anything critical.
People never get tired of this crap. And of course you need an American Hero to talk down the Foreign bad guy:

Wow Two of my favorites… I think this impersonation is pretty good. Turns out they are training together. Warrior is getting ready for his match with the Italian Wrestling Promotion in his official return to the ring. And I guess RVD is trying to prevent becoming rusty in case he ever decides to make a come back.

shotout to Haseeb for sending this video to me.
When she says Kong is a woman of peace, I hear the parallel: Islam is a Religion of Peace. Obviously Kong is a violent monster, so does this subtly imply that Islam is a religion of violence?
When I showed this video to my wife.. she asked why her eyebrows were all done up. Only a female would come up with that observation.
This is not the first time A Arab/Muslim Bad guy has been used in wrestling. We all remember the Iron Sheikh, and more recently Muhammad Hassan.

Click on Thumb nails to see RVD in a TNA Ring!

RVD was openly talking about it during the last ECW PPV, asking people
if it was a good idea. Especially after some fans at the ECW PPV were
chanting for him to go to TNA. Furthermore, several people said that
his wife Sonya, who was in attendance at the PPV, was chanting "TNA"
along with some other fans. Now you can see him in a TNA Ring! Enjoy

Also make sure to check out one of my earlier posts on this Ultimate Intellectual. You can use keepvid.com to save this (before it gets deleted).
This is off the WWE DVD entitled: The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. Obviously the Warrior hates and condemns this release.

[[WWE]] a publically traded company has forced [[Rob Van Dam]] to drop both of his Championship belts after he was arrested in Ohio along with Sabu a few days ago. They were caught “Riding Dirty” with 18 grams of Marajuana and some pain killers. RVD was known to be a Weed Smoker (may Allah guide him). The WWE had a meeting with both wrestlers after they were released on bail. Then they had RVD drop both titles. The WWE belt was dropped to Edge, and the ECW title was dropped to Big Show. There is even talk about their contracts being completely terminated. What I don’t get is why did the WWE play on the fact that he is a weed smoker in order to promote their products. For example This t-shirt on sale at the WWE Shop has the phrase: “Flying Higher than ever”. On a recent promo RVD said.. “I gotta get rolling”. On last years One Night Stand Paul Heyman straight up came to the ring and said he just had “smoked a joint with Van Dam”. RVD on his site said he was celebrating 420 (April 20th- Natl Weed Smoking Day) with Samoa Joe, a TNA Wrestling Talent. One of RVD’s Monikers is “RVD:420 because I just smoked your a–”. Which he stated on ONS 2005. On his DVD he also has some jokes about smoking up. Like when Coach asks him how high does he get…. when he does his 5 star frog splash. So I think its very hipocritical of the WWE to reap the benefits of pushing a Weed Smoker to the top (getting weed smoking fans behind him). And then when he gets arrested, letting him crash and burn. About the painkillers all wrestlers use them because they really need them when they wrestle night after night. This is the ugly side of the business that no one wants to think about. But when you push alcoholism, weed smoking, and promiscuity what do you think is going to happen? If its not good for the business when someone gets arrested, or when someone dies, it should not be good at any point in time. They should sincerely push him to quit and they should stop trying to play both sides of the fence. Then again the WWE or other wrestling promotions are not known for their sense of morality anyway. I guess I am ticked because I could care less about the business, but care more about watching great wrestlers perform. I guess its hard to seperate whats real from what’s supposedly fake.

At ECW One Night Stand 2006 [[RVD]] Finally achieved what he has deserved for a very long time. He has become the WWE Champion. Although now it looks like they are making him hold two titles. One is going to be the official ECW title and he is going to hold the WWE Title. Now that he is on the ECW Brand (moved from RAW) I guess that means they will make him drop the WWE title and make it go back to RAW, so they can have contention for titles on each show. The way in which he won was pretty wack, but from a story line viewpoint it was brilliant. Edge interfered by spearing Cena through a table. Since Cena was getting alot of heat, they made him come out more aggressive. If he got beat up (like he should have) it would have really hurt his fan base and that wouldn’t help the company since his merchandise really sells. The ECW fans were vicious, they chanted “You can’t wrestle!, You can’t wrestle!”. After he did a impressive power move they chanted: “You still suck!, You still suck!”. When he did his patented moves they chanted: “Same old Sh–, Same old Sh–”. I was dissaponted that RVD didn’t unveil any new moves. I wish the finish was something spectacular. I also wish he showed off some of his great in ring wrestling skills, but then again Cenas style would not compliment that. The new ECW show on scifi is kinda weak. It’s too short only an hour long and I feel that they don’t have enough wrestlers on the roster. Btw at One night stand the hottest sign was hanging from the balcony which read “If Cena Wins we Riot”. I truly believe that would’ve happened.

This is why RVD is the man
